The successful candidate is responsible for assisting in all aspects of marketing for the museum, membership and special events. Duties include data-entry, sales calls, assembling marketing material and other tasks as necessary. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are preferred. Some experience working in marketing, events or non-profit organizations a plus. Also required are strong computer literacy, excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail, follow-through on routine tasks, and the ability to work occasional weekends or evenings. This position is unpaid and is considered a museum volunteer, or intern for college credit. The position interacts with museum visitors and groups, and duties include preparation of lessons for Summer Camp attendees, implementing programs for the camps, working with volunteers and staff to create a quality learning experience for museum visitors, cleaning and organizing the classroom, etc. This position requires two years college education, with prior experience in informal science education preferred. Approximately 6 to 7 hours per day will be spent in the public areas of the museum, interacting with visitors.
