At the December 2 Family Fun Day, Join us in welcoming woodcarver Lee Thormahlen for a live demonstration of wood carvings of birds. Learn about the tremendous amount of time and dedication that goes in to each piece and see the detailed finished products up close. Lee will present from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the Community Gallery at The Wildlife Experience on Saturday, December 2.

In addition to the various art and natural history galleries, several innovative multiple-media exhibits are featured throughout the museum. Discovery Den, features fun and exciting educational exhibits for kids ages 6-12, and Cubs Corner offers fun games, puzzles and crafts for kids up to age 5. The Extreme Screen Theater is currently showing Dolphins and Beavers. Call (720) 488-3300, or visit thewildlifeexperience.org, for movie show times. Along with Discovery Den and the Extreme Screen Theater, are galleries that host rotating exhibits throughout the year. Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats, currently on display, brings the mystery surrounding bats out of the dark. The exhibit dispels popular misconceptions about bats and gives visitors an appreciation of the true wonders of the bat world. Special effects, multi-sensory interactive displays, a Gothic castle and environmentally lifelike settings such as caves and rain forests present bats in mythic and real-life settings. This interactive and hands-on exhibit provides a fun learning experience which sheds light on the myths about bats, describes their ecological importance and provides an understanding of the world's most misunderstood animal.

Throughout the museum, interactive kiosks allow visitors to learn about wildlife and conservation through video, animation and video games. Each of these exhibits and interactive elements communicates the museum’s mission to visitors through advanced technologies in compelling and dynamic forms.
