Saturday, September 2DENVER—August 24, 2006—The Wildlife Experience hosts a family celebration on the first Saturday of every month. The museum invites visitors of all ages to experience the wonders of the earth’s wild places and celebrate our world’s diverse cultures and wildlife through an array of fun-filled activities. The next Family Fun Day will be Saturday, September 2. Family Fun Day features a variety of educational activities for children of all ages. Activities may include arts and crafts, storytelling, games and a scavenger hunt. The BOAtique and the Café offer 10% discounts on Family Fun Day for families to make the most of their adventure at The Wildlife Experience. At the September 2 Family Fun Day, join us in welcoming Wayne Francis, ventriloquist and puppeteer extraordinaire, for an exciting program exploring the 'World of Wonders'. This program is for visitors of all ages and provides a full-stage production complete with sound, music, props and costuming. Wayne will do a presentation in the Great Hall at 11:30 a.m. and then roam around the museum entertaining visitors with some life-size puppets after the presentation In addition to the various art and natural history galleries, several innovative multiple-media exhibits are featured throughout the museum. Discovery Den, features fun and exciting educational exhibits for kids ages 6-12, and Cubs Corner offers fun games, puzzles and crafts for kids up to age 5. Along with Discovery Den and the Extreme Screen Theater, are galleries that host rotating exhibits throughout the year. Chimpanzee Challenge swings into the first-floor gallery, giving visitors a fully interactive, life-size maze experience designed to teach visitors of all ages about what it takes to survive in the wild as a chimpanzee, to compare themselves with our closest relatives and to discover the serious threats primates are facing and how humans can make a difference. Developed in collaboration with world-renowned primatologist Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute, this 2000 square foot maze journey spans four life cycle stages, from newborn to adulthood, enabling visitors to mimic chimpanzee behavior in tests of strength, agility, and communication. Through action and education, visitors will see through the eyes of chimpanzees, understand the difficulty of their situation, and be given the opportunity to make a difference. Throughout the museum, interactive kiosks allow visitors to learn about wildlife and conservation through video, animation and video games.
