Challenge a Chimpanzee at The Wildlife Experience
DENVER - June 2, 2006 - Do you think you’re stronger and smarter than a chimpanzee? Do you think you know what it takes to survive in the wild? Find out this summer at The Wildlife Experience when it hosts “Chimpanzee Challenge,” an interactive maze that was developed in cooperation with the Jane Goodall Institute.
Chimpanzee Challenge offers visitors a chance to experience the life-cycle and conservation issues of wild chimpanzees in this immersive educational role-play exhibit. Offering more than a chance to see what difficulties wild chimpanzees face, kids will perform feats of strength, agility and communication to understand how chimps survive.
Kids begin the maze as a newborn chimp. From there, they will answer questions that will determine their development path throughout. If they choose incorrectly, their journey comes to an end. If they choose correctly, they will move on to the next Lifecycle stage. Along the way, not only will their knowledge be tested, but they will also face physical feats, such as the Knuckle Walk, the Brachiation Bars, Vine Swing, a Survival Quest and other tests of strength. In the end, kids will gain a greater understanding and appreciation of our closest relatives and what it takes to survive in the wild. Visitors will also learn about threats that our fellow primates face and the challenges humans face to address these growing issues.
At the end of the maze, visitors are introduced to Roots and Shoots and the other works of the Jane Goodall Institute, complete with inspiring messages by Dr. Jane Goodall.
Take the challenge this summer from June 17 through September 10. For more information on this exhibit and The Wildlife Experience, call (720) 488-3300 or visit thewildlifeexperience.org.
