Blast Off at The Wildlife Experience’s next Family Fun Day
Saturday October 1, 2005 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

DENVER - September 26, 2005 - The Wildlife Experience’s October Family Fun Day, hosted on the first Saturday of each month, will take visitors to new heights with a specially planned demonstration on rockets. The museum invites visitors of all ages to experience the wonders of the earth’s wild places and celebrate our world’s diverse cultures and wildlife through an array of fun-filled activities. The next Family Fun Day will be Saturday, October 1.

Family Fun Day features a variety of cultural and educational activities for children of all ages. Activities may include arts and crafts, storytelling, games and a scavenger hunt. The Retail Gift Shop and the Café offer 10% discounts on Family Fun Day for families to make the most of their adventure at The Wildlife Experience.

For October’s Family Fun Day, The Wildlife Experience has a fun and educational science presentation lined up, set to send you into orbit! On Saturday, October 1, SpaceTime, Colorado's premier science based edutainment provider, will be giving a fun presentation about rockets called “Blast Off.” SpaceTime’s unique brand of space themed parties and educational programs is the perfect mix of fun and education that captivates young audiences with imaginative and exciting hands-on and "minds-on" presentations that make learning fun. “Blast Off” is a program that highlights the history of rockets, demonstrates how they fly and during the hour-long presentation, three rockets will be launched to demonstrate the science of their flight and design. Participants will also be able to build and launch their own re-usable rockets.

Additionally, at the October Family Fun Day, kids and their families can adopt their own wildlife from the Denver Dumb Friends League. From noon to 4:00 p.m., the Denver Dumb Friends League will be at the museum and will have a variety of their animals that need a good home. Kids can also have their faces painted from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.

In addition to the various art and natural history galleries, several innovative multiple-media exhibits are featured throughout the museum. The largest of these exhibits is the 315-person iWERKS® and DTS digital sound theater where guests are able to view an array of large-format films. The theater is currently showing Roar: Lions of the Kalahari and The Living Sea. Call (720) 488-3300, or visit thewildlifeexperience.org, for movie show times. Along with the iWERKS® Theater, there are several large screen displays that project high-definition video and 3-D computer graphics on various conservation efforts from around the world. Throughout the museum, there are interactive kiosks that allow visitors to learn about wildlife and conservation through video, animation, text and video games. One of these interactive areas is the National Geographic Channel Theater. Each of these theaters and interactive stations communicates the museum’s mission to visitors through advanced technologies in compelling and dynamic forms.
