Press ReleaseBeat the Heat and Jump into The Wildlife Experience for Some Summer Fun!DENVER — April 7, 2005 —It’s getting warmer out there, so why not break from the heat and get into The Wildlife Experience for fun events and exhibits! The Wildlife Experience Museum will feature a wide variety of traveling exhibits and fun events for all to enjoy. Here’s a look at what’s ahead this summer at The Wildlife Experience: EXHIBITS April 16 th through August 28 th: America’s Wildest Places America's Wildest Places chronicles the 100-year history of America 's National Wildlife Refuge System. Through historical and scenic photographs, video, artifacts and natural specimens, the exhibition tells the story of the development of federal lands dedicated to wildlife conservation. In 2003, America's Wildest Places appeared at the Smithsonian Institution to celebrate a "Century of Conservation" begun by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903. April 16 th through June 18 th: Wild Sights: Our National Wildlife Refuges This exhibit highlights John and Karen Hollingsworth's photographic images from each of 34 U.S. wildlife refuge sites. The color photographs represent the beauty and diversity of species and habitats throughout America 's National Wildlife Refuge System. May 10 th through June 5 th: Colorado Junior Duck Stamp Winners The Colorado Junior Duck Stamp exhibit is comprised of 100 winning illustrations of ducks by Colorado junior artists, grades Kindergarten through12th, for the annual national contest. The top winners and their artwork will travel to Washington D.C. for the national judging. This contest was created in 1994 by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to increase appreciation for the National Wildlife Refuge System and to promote education on migratory waterfowl and their habitats. The Wildlife Experience will host an awards ceremony for the Front Range winners and their families. May 21 st through August 21 st: LEGO™: Ocean Adventure An underwater world represented with LEGOS™ comes to The Wildlife Experience in the form of LEGO: Ocean Adventure. Visitors can explore the ocean in four different components: an underwater rover, a submarine, a coral reef and a science research station. LEGO™models of sharks, dolphins, squid and jellyfish make this traveling exhibit an original experience. LEGO: Ocean Adventure is a one-of-a-kind interactive exhibit complete with videos, computer games and building areas. June 25 th through August 21 st: On Ancient Wings: Sandhill Cranes of North America This exhibit is comprised of color photographs taken from a book, also entitled On Ancient Wings: Sandhill Cranes of North America, by Michael Forsberg. The photographic exhibit is the result of a five-year project on sandhill cranes. Forsberg traveled throughout North America to photograph the beautiful cranes in their natural habitats. SUMMER CAMPS Nature to the Max Dates: June 6 –10, June 27 - July 1, July 18– 22, August 8– 12 EVENTS July 21 st: Movie and a Martini featuring Moonraker Join The Wildlife Experience for a relaxing evening of martinis and a showing of the classic James bond film, Moonraker. "Movie and a Martini" will be held at The Wildlife Experience on July 21 st ; doors to the museum will open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $18 for members and $20 for non-members, which includes admission to the movie, admission to museum galleries and exhibits, appetizers and a cocktail in a keepsake martini glass. August 26 th: Second Annual Art and Ale Festival This event features a dazzling lineup of musical entertainment, bountiful brews and tantalizing treats. You will soak up good food and frosty beverages from some of our finest local breweries and restaurants, and you are welcome to peruse The Wildlife Experience's galleries and exhibits. Pre-paid tickets will be available May 1, 2005 . Ticket prices are $25 per person and $45 per couple. Members of The Wildlife Experience receive a discounted rate of $20 per person. Tickets purchased the day of the event are $30 per person. No other discounts apply.
