Sunday, April 27, 2003
DENVER-March 25, 2003 -The Wildlife Experience welcomes, Chris Palmer, President and CEO of National Wildlife Productions to the Wildlife Experience on Sunday, April 27, 2003. Palmer will give a free lecture about the making of the large-format wildlife adventure film “Bears” beginning at 5:30 pm. A showing of the film will follow at 6:00 pm.
As President and CEO of National Wildlife Productions, Inc., Palmer leads the television, film and multimedia programs of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), the nation's largest conservation group with over four million members and supporters. Since joining the National Wildlife Federation in 1994, Palmer has directed NWF's launch into broadcast, cable, syndication, home video, new media, large format and international markets. He oversees and executive produces all NWF’s wildlife films. His work has been described as one of the “great success stories of the modern environmental education movement.”
Chris Palmer has traveled the globe, swum with dolphins and whales, confronted sharks, come face-to-face with Kodiak bears, camped out with wolf packs, and waded hip-deep through an Everglades swamp. For 20 years, he has produced wildlife films for television screens and IMAX theaters.
Films produced under Palmer’s direction have won over 100 awards, including two Emmys. His movies, music videos, documentaries and computer software have all focused on documenting threatened species and habitats, exposing damaging commercial enterprises and practices while celebrating environmental success stories.
Palmer has produced TV specials and series for the Disney Channel, TBS Superstation, Animal Planet, Home and Garden Television, The Travel Channel, The Outdoor Life Network, and for the Public Broadcasting System. He also produces NWF’s giant-screen films, including Whales, Wolves, Bears, and India: Kingdom of the Tiger, for large-format theaters.
Of these films, The Wildlife Experience, has had the pleasure of showing the action-packed wildlife adventure film Bears. BEARS brings audiences closer than ever before to some of the world’s largest terrestrial animals in the full glory of their natural habitat. From polar bears in the Artic tundra to black bears in the Northern Rockies, this film features some of the most spectacular footage ever shot of these enterprising omnivores.
Palmer will speak about the filming of Bears and about producing large-format films. Following his talk, Bears will be shown in our large-format theater. Seating is limited so please RSVP to dslechta@twexp.org or (720)488-3312 by April 23, 2003.
